PATA San Diego Chapter Attends Travel Industry Exchange

The PATA San Diego Chapter was thrilled to be present at this past week’s Travel Industry Exchange event at the Hilton Bayfront, downtown San Diego, CA.  We saw many of our local travel colleagues at the show amongst the 300+ agents and 130 exhibitors, including our preferred travel suppliers from Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Lines, Crystal Cruises, Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, GoGo Vacations, Hornblower Cruises & Events and San Diego Tourism Authority, amongst suppliers.

Formerly know as the Luxury Travel Show, the innovative event’s over 50 sessions focused on revenue-generating niche segments, including certification programs in luxury, cruise, romance and family travel, as well as concentrated educational programming in millennial travel, and social media and branding.

Amongst the featured panel speakers was our own Jim Ferguson, CTC, speaking on “The Benefits of PATA and APTA: What They Can Do For Your Business.”  “This event was a productive engagement for the San Diego Chapter in reinforcing awareness of PATA amongst the attendees and promoting our 2017 PATA Chapters U event, March 01-03,” commented Ferguson,

The event is supported by seven industry associations including the Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa (APTA), Africa Travel Association (ATA), Caribbean Tourism Association (CTA), Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialists Association (DWHSA), Family Travel Association, and the PATA San Diego & SoCal Chapters.

Sponsors included AMResorts, Apple Vacations, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Dominican Republic Tourism Board, GoGo/Worldwide Travel, Hawai’i Visitors and Convention Bureau, India Tourism, Kimpton Hotels San Diego, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Nevada Tourism, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, St. Martin Tourism Board, Tourism Australia, Tourism Fiji, Viking Cruises.

The event includes over seven hours of one-to-one meetings, comprehensive education including agent specialty training and networking events and receptions.
